Solo
Philipp’s solo work is rooted in a very personal and ongoing relationship with the piano. Combining prepared and inside piano techniques with objects, found sounds, and samples, his music unfolds through improvisation — an open-ended, moment-to-moment process of listening, responding, and discovery. Driven by curiosity, playfulness, and a deep sensitivity to sound, Philipp explores the tactile and physical dimensions of music-making. Each performance is shaped by the space, the acoustics, the material at hand, and the unpredictability of interaction—whether with objects, field recordings, or the audience.
In his eyes, improvisation is not just a method, but a philosophy: a way of being and thinking through sound, embracing chance, intuition, and the ephemeral. His work engages with questions of time and duration, presence, perception, and the porous boundaries between body, environment, and instrument. Influenced by ideas from philosophy, psychology, literature, and poetry, Philipp treats sound as both material and metaphor. The piano thus becomes more than a fixed instrument—it becomes a site of experimentation, memory, resistance, and play.
He has performed at spaces dedicated to adventurous and exploratory music, including Cave12 in Geneva, Bee Flat in Bern and Immersive 3D Audio Festival in Zürich.
